Licensed Mental Fitness Facilitator

When someone on your team is not okay, someone needs to know what to do.

Two certification pathways delivered by Rachel Willis, licensed Mental Fitness Australia facilitator.

Human services work is demanding. Staff regularly absorb trauma, complexity, and emotional weight that most workplaces never encounter. Safe Work Australia data shows psychological injury claims are among the most costly and lengthy of all workplace injury types — and in health and community services the rate is significantly above the national average.

Most organisations respond after the crisis. These programs are built for before it.

Rachel Willis delivers two Mental Fitness Australia certification pathways — one for every member of your workforce, and one for the people in your team who take on a formal first responder role.

Why this training fits the sector

This program stands apart because it is built for the operational reality of sector work, not designed around it as an afterthought.

For teams operating under SCHADS Award rostering, thin staffing margins, and geographically dispersed workforces, a two day training commitment pulls people off the floor at a cost many organisations cannot absorb.

The Mental Fitness First Responder face-to-face session runs five hours. The online self-paced pathway offers the same flexibility for remote and rostered workforces. Both pathways lead to the Certified Mental Fitness First Responder credential.

The Mental Fitness Star is a separate entry level certification — a foundation program every member of your workforce can complete online, building a shared language of mental fitness across the whole team before distress becomes a crisis.

Together the two programs offer a tiered approach to workforce mental fitness — a foundation level for every staff member and a professional responder credential for those taking on a designated support role.

Mandatory obligations this training supports

Across NDIS, aged care, community services, and homelessness, organisations have active obligations under the relevant quality standards and the Safe Work Australia Model Code of Practice for Managing Psychosocial Hazards to identify and control psychosocial hazards in the workplace. Early recognition and response to psychological distress is a named control measure. These training pathways directly support your organisation to meet those obligations.

She brings nearly 30 years of human services leadership to this training — beginning in NSW Police working with young people and women experiencing domestic and family violence, through three CEO roles across crisis accommodation, homelessness, and home care, to a national consulting practice working with organisations across NDIS, aged care, and community services.
